Translate me this

Original feeling:

"Hombres necios que acusais
a la mujer sin razon,
sin ver que sois la ocasion
de lo mismo que culpais:

si con ansia sin igual
solicitais su desden,
por que quereis que obren bien
si las incitais al mal?"

A version in English of the feeling:

"Silly, you men - so very adept
at wrongly faulting womankind,
not seeing you're alone to blame
for faults you plant in woman's mind.

After you've won by urgent plea
the right to tarnish her good name,
you still expect her to behave
you, that coaxed her into shame."

A version in "cheap" English of the feeling, or a "cheap" version in English of the feeling [?]:

"You foolish men, who accuse
Women without good reason,
You are the cause of what you blame,
Yours the guilt you deny:

If you seek the love of women to win
With ardor beyond compare
Why require them to be good,
When tis you who urge their sin?"

It might be just me, but the three of them are talking about something different. Unless of course, you think "toasted rice" and "rice toasted" is exactly the same.

Sick and Blogging

Apparently everyone has a life but me. Oh well, go away. Definitely you do not want me to give you my flu virus. It appears to be the mostest contagious everest.

My Postmodern Arrogant Ass Does Know This...

"Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes them to live. And unselfishness is letting other people's lives alone, not interfering with them.

Selfishness always aims at creating around it an absolute uniformity of type. Unselfishness recognises infinite variety of type as a delightful thing, accepts it, acquiesces in it, enjoys it. It is not selfish to think for oneself.

A man who does not think for himself does not think at all.

It is grossly selfish to require of one's neighbour that he should think in the same way, and hold the same opinions. Why should he? If he can think, he will probably think differently. If he cannot think, it is monstrous to require thought of any kind from him.

A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses."

He said quoting was an excuse for people with nothing original to say. In my own experience, there is nothing further from the truth. Sometimes what other people have said, gives name to "that" which I cannot name. For that reason, I have decided to create my own vault of memories and consciousness igniters. One section is going to be dedicated to the ones who have shaped my thoughts; the other one, the small one in the corner, will contain my own words. My words as I am likely to use them over & over & over & over...

So here, the first quote for my corner:

"I have always found amusing self-righteous people. Especially when they bitch about everything but go through life thinking they are the portrait of the 'postmodern positive thinker'".

Inspired by a comment in your world.

Bite me once, your fault. Bite me twice, my fault.

A while ago now, an insect bit me. Therefore, I have decided to stay as far as I can from all of them. Only observing & studying them. Perhaps once I am able to understand their nature & function, I will dare to have another close encounter with one of them. Until then, I will remain helplessly insectophobic.

I want to play too!

I found here the rules for a game. This is my attempt to play:

"When faced with a lexeme, the reader does not know which of its virtual properties (or semes, or semantic markers) has to be actualized so as to allow further amalgamations."

(Taken from: "The Role of The Reader: Explorations in the Semiotics of Texts", by Umberto Eco. [Indiana Univeristy Press, 1984])

Much better!

You're Lolita!
by Vladimir Nabokov

Considered by most to be depraved and immoral, you are obsessed with sex. What really tantalizes you is that which deviates from societal standards in every way, though you admit that this probably isn't the best and you're not sure what causes this desire. Nonetheless, you've done some pretty nefarious things in your life, and probably gotten caught for them. The names have been changed, but the problems are real. Please stay away from children.

Take the Book Quiz at the Blue Pyramid.

(Admittedly, I re-took the quiz. "Compassion Fatigue" did not suit me entirely.)

Neither with you, because you kill me...
...nor without you, because I die.

Last night I found myself abandoned by reason.

Never had I failed in obliterating pain.

If only you could "feel", not what I feel, but "feel".

If only my words could express exactly what I mean...

without being the cheap version of Juliet.

If only I were brave enough to confront your indifference

& speak my mind out.

If only I were not so afraid of losing the idea of "that" which I do not have

& never had.

"If only"

If only the expression itself existed in the first place.

At this moment, Fromm's theories on love & relationships,

are bullshit in my mind.

Neither they cure the pain,

nor explain to my hypothalamus

how bad I need to be un-shattered.

I would raise my voice to shriek, if only you could hear me...

Socrates' wisdom

Nietzsche's caustic intelligence

Schopenhauer's brilliance

Van Gogh's talent

Shakespeare's poetical skills

Vivaldi's joy

Marti's disguised romanticism

Kafka's insanity

Sartre's vision

Gaarder's imagination

Huxley's naive optimism

Mozart's genius...

that is all I am asking for.

If possible, "wrapped" in Michelangelo's David.
